SAM MAGGS is a writer, geek girl, and television professional whose work focuses on pop culture, geek culture, and (sometimes) how they intersect with concepts of gender. Her work has appeared across the Internet on sites like Geekosystem, The Mary Sue, Mashable, Gizmodo, and the front page of Digg, and she frequently appears as a pop culture correspondent on MTV Canada's Play With AJ and Space's InnerSpace. Sam is the 2013 recipient of Women Write About Comics' Awesome Geek Feminist of the Year Award, and she has been profiled by Tech Girls Canada as part of their Portraits of Strength series.
