Synopsis

The IT Essentials I: PC and Hardware Web-based course will be introduced for the Fall 2002 semester, and is part of the new courses sponsored by key technology companies through the Cisco Networking Academy Program. The IT Essentials I: PC and Hardware course is sponsored by Hewlett-Packard, and introduces the concepts of how to properly install, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot and repair microcomputer hardware. This includes basic knowledge of desktop and portable systems, basic networking concepts, and printers. After the course the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of safety and common preventive maintenance procedures. This course will prepare the student for the CompTIA A+ certification. This course will also be a strong pre-requisite for those interested in pursuing the CCNA curricula. The Companion Guide complements and aligns to the Web-based course offered through the Networking Academy. A Lab Companion and Engineering Journal and Workbook will complement the Companion Guide as well as be an additional resource for the classroom setting.
