Author Bio
Len Sperry, M.D., Ph.D., is currently Professor and Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Counseling at Florida Atlantic University as well as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Among his 50+ published books and 350+ articles and chapters in the professional literature, are four books on spirituality--including Spirituality in Clinical Practice (Brunner/Mazel, 2001) and Spiritually Oriented Psychotherapy (APA Books, 2005)--and several articles on spirituality and the spiritual dimensions of psychotherapy. He has practiced psychotherapy sensitive to the spiritual dimension for over 20 years. Board certified in Psychiatry, Preventive Medicine, and Clinical Psychology, he is a fellow of both the American Psychiatric Association, the American College of Psychiatrists and the American Psychological Association; and is a fellow of the Division of Psychology and Religion of the APA, and a member of the Committee on Psychiatry and Religion of the Group for the Advancement of Psychiatry (GAP). Dr. Sperry was executive director of the national Ministry Health and Impairment Consortium and has been a psychiatric consultant to several diocesan and religious organizations. He is listed in Best Doctors in America and Who's Who in America.
