Author Bio
Laurie Mika is a mixed-media artist residing in southern California. She has painted and created art for as long as she can remember. However, her obsession with mosaics evolved over the course of the last fifteen years, culminating in a style of mixed-media mosaics that she shares in this book. Laurie holds a B.A. from United States International University, where she studied in Africa for two years. She attended graduate school at San Diego State University in the field of art history. She feels very fortunate to have combined both her love of art and her passion for travel. Laurie has been teaching mixed-media mosaic workshops for the past few years at national retreats and truly enjoys sharing her passion for mosaics with the wonderful people she's met in classes. She has been published in numerous books and magazines and has also appeared on television on both HGTV and DIY. Closer to home, she participates in juried art shows and has work in local galleries. With her work constantly evolving, Laurie isn't quite sure what the future holds, but she is looking forward to the journey.
