Dear Future Me: Hopes Fears Secrets Resolutions: Hope, Fears, Secrets, Resolutions

by Matt Sly (Compiler), JayPatrikios (Compiler)

Synopsis

Matt Sly and Jay Patrikios created a website in 2007. The idea is simple - anybody can visit the site and write a letter to him - or herself, to be delivered in the future. In addition, the writer can elect to have the letter be "public but anonymous," creating a repository of letters that are readable by all. "Dear Future Me" is a collection of the best of these letters. The letters in "Dear Future Me" are fascinating because they delve into the lives of ordinary people when they're being really honest. With time capsule appeal this book is a glimpse into the lives of everyday people, providing a sometimes humorous, sometimes poignant, but always insightful look into our culture and society - and ultimately at ourselves.

Matt Sly and Jay Patrikios met in Williamstown, MA, where both were working for Internet companies. As things would have it, they both ended up in San Francisco a few years later, where they came up with the idea for FutureMe.org. They created the site in their spare time (maybe a total of 40 hours of work) and launched it in 2002. Jay does design. Matt does programming. Jay is currently a designer at Amazon.com and Matt is an MBA student at the Yale School of Management.
