A wonderful ebook from C&T Publishing! I LOVE making/sending/receiving/buying/reading cards! Not dissing store-bought cards (which are convienient and sometimes say just what you don't have the words for!) but nothing says more than a lovingly handcrafted card. Card Art: Create Treasured Greetings from Fabric & Paper by Susan S. Terry has design ideas to create 51 handmade cards as well as a dozen handmade gift tags. These cards combine paper and fabric to make one-of- a- kind cards made by you! Don't worry if you are not very creative, the instructions are easy to follow and the book includes templates/patterns for each of the cards made in the book. Each completed card is also shown in full color photographs and each card also fits into standard sized envelopes for easy mailing. These cards can be easily costumized to fit your mood, style and scraps of papers and fabrics that you have lying around! This is a great gift for quilters, scrapbookers and anyone who wants to create beautiful homemade cards. The cards in this book offer many ideas for seasonal and holiday cards as well as some any-occasion ones. This book also includes tips for quotes and an introduction into basic cardmaking/supplies and techinques used. -- oneincomedollar.com, 11/18/10
Author Bio
Susan Terry made her first quilt at age five, after which she unfortunately got sidetracked into a college major in English, a family, and a job in computer programming. Happily, in 1990 she effected an escape from reality and a return to quilting. After hand piecing her first large quilts, Susan discovered needle-turn applique. She has created a number of award-winning quilts in this medium, most of them her own designs and all of them hand quilted. Susan also designs and makes handmade cards. This Christmas stocking obsession is a detour into which she wandered during one of her many attempts to use up fabric scraps. She's run out of grandchildren for whom to make stockings and is rapidly working her way through her extended family and friends. Soon she will have to find another use for all those tiny bits of fabric cluttering her workroom in Oakland, California.
