Fantasy and Medieval Mosaics for the Scroll Saw: 33 Patterns for Castles, Dragons, Knights, Unicorns and More

Fantasy and Medieval Mosaics for the Scroll Saw: 33 Patterns for Castles, Dragons, Knights, Unicorns and More

by Frank Droege (Author)

Synopsis

Medieval castles, armoured knights, dragons, and crests are among the scroll saw projects included in this pattern-filled book. The popular segmentation style, which involves applying a pattern to wood, cutting the wood according to the pattern, rounding the edges, painting the pieces, and gluing them back into position on a plywood backing, is introduced and explained in these projects. The effect of the segmentation method is that the finished pieces resemble ceramic tile and stone mosaics created by the ancient Romans. Beginner or intermediate scrollers can simplify or complicate the projects by deleting or adding pattern lines.

Media Reviews
I saw this book in a scroll saw magazine and became interested and decided to buy the book. The patterns are very interesting and quite good. The instructions at the front of the book are very complete and comprehensive. I decided to cut the Unicorn mosaic. This meant a trip to the library to make a copy of the pattern. After selecting a nice piece of wood and gluing the copy down, I start sawing. After a while and many pieces later, I was quite pleased. The suggestions for the finishing of the different projects are very helpful. This is a book a beginner could buy. Read the instructions and have a successful project. I would definitely recommend it for your library.
