I Fought the Law: Photographs by Olivia Locher of the Strangest Laws from Each of the 50 States

by OliviaLocher (Author)

Synopsis

Strange and outdated laws from each of the 50 states-some long overturned, some still on the books, and some merely the stuff of legend-are depicted with sly wit in Olivia Locher's vibrant photographs. Incisive, ironic, and drop-dead gorgeous, I Fought the Law is perfect for humour-loving hipsters, fine art photo fans, and trivia buffs alike. A foreword from American poet Kenneth Goldsmith and an interview with the artist by Eric Shiner, former director of the Andy Warhol Museum, contextualise Locher's work.

Media Reviews
Did you know that in Alabama, it's illegal to carry an ice-cream cone in your back pocket? Or that in Hawaii, you can be arrested for putting a coin in your ear? And that in Kentucky, it's illegal to lick a toad? Olivia Locher explores where these strange laws come from in her tongue-in-cheek book I Fought The Law. It's illustrated with gorgeous photos - breaking the law has never looked so good. Daily Mail
