Synopsis

17-year-old Stella Hamilton is the star blazing at the heart of Temperley High. Leader of the maliciously exclusive elite, she is surrounded by adulation; envied and lusted after in equal measure. And she is in the final stage of a five-year campaign to achieve her destiny: love with her equally popular male equivalent, and triumph as Head Girl on election night. By contrast, new girl Caitlin Clarke has until now lived a quietly conformist life in New York. With the collapse of her parents' marriage she has been sent across the Atlantic for an English boarding school education, only to discover that at Temperley, the only important rules are the unwritten ones. It's a world of the beautiful and the dangerous, and acceptance means staying on the right side of Stella Hamilton, the most beautiful and dangerous of them all. Not everyone is happy to be under the Hamilton rule. But fighting the system means treading the same dark path as Stella - and if Caitlin puts a foot wrong, it's a long way down ...

Media Reviews
Eve is a powerful new voice in teen fiction and this creative and compelling thriller, with its strong cast of characters, explosive plot twists and shocking denouement, will leave sassy teenagers chomping at the bit for more. * Lancashire Evening Post *
May I just warn you: I finished this book crying my eyes out. My opinions had been twisted and turned and switched completely but I was absolutely devastated by the ending. The story is so much darker, so much more emotional than it gives away. Please read it. Just do. I'm going to use my Stella-esque voice here: Don't question me. Go and read it. Get a copy, turn that page and lose yourself. Do it now. Now. Please? -- Peer Review * Guardian Children's Books Website *
I would rate this book 10/10 because in my opinion it is an amazing, breath-taking and page-turning book. I absolutely will recommend it to all of my friends and any girl over the age of 11. -- Peer Review * Guardian Children's Books Website *

a deliciously dark look at the hierarchies of boarding school life * The Bookseller *
Of all the YA or teen books, this has to be the most realistic story that one will ever read. As most of the today's generation of teens seem to desire popularity, everlasting friendships and true love, anyone who reads this book could relate to the story very well. * The Guardian *
