Postcards from the Heart

Synopsis

Life is looking up for Saffy. She has a great job, a gorgeous flat in the most desirable part of Dublin and - after six years - it looks like her boyfriend, Greg, is going to propose. Greg (just voted the 9th most eligible man in Ireland) is on a high, too - he's about to swap his part as a heart-throb in an Irish soap for a break in Hollywood. His best mate Conor wakes up every morning with Jess, the most beautiful woman on the planet but, even after seven years and two kids, she won't get married. He spends his days teaching teenagers and his nights writing the book he hopes will change everything, including Jess's mind. But their happy endings are playing hard to get. It seems everyone's keeping secrets - one night stands, heartbreak, grief and loss are all in the mix. It's going to take some tough questions and even tougher answers before anyone's being honest - even with themselves. POSTCARDS FROM THE HEART is a book about four friends in their thirties. It's about love, lust, life, death, balloon rides and missing hamsters. But most of all it's about figuring out how to stop saying 'I don't' and how to start saying 'I do'.

Book Overview: Gorgeously grown up romantic comedy from a brilliant new Irish voice

Media Reviews
A fresh, funny new voice. Ella Griffin can make you laugh and then cry in the turn of a page. -- MARIAN KEYES A touching story that reminds us all that love's never as simple as it sounds. WOMAN a funny, witty, story of the colliding lives of four Dubliners. IRISH SUNDAY INDEPENDENT This thrilling story of romance and deceit is too good to put down. CLOSER Love in all its guises fill the pages of this lively novel. CHOICE As debut novels go this is one stomping entry into the world of storytelling. Like all good romcoms, Postcards from the Heart is a love story with a twist, but its also got the added element of wit, humour and the odd tear here and there. A fabulous read. RTE GUIDE A smart portrayal of four friends' efforts to find a path through the undergrowth of thirtysomething life. DAILY TELEGRAPH Following the lives of four thirty-something friends, it has all the elements of great chick-lit: think the humour of Marian Keyes, the warmth of Cathy Kelly, with just a sprinkling of Jackie Collins naughtiness thrown in for good measure. IRISH INDEPENDENT Ella Griffin's hugely enjoyable debut ... deftly mixes light and shade, humour and conflict ... like Allison Pearson in I don't know how She Does It, Griffin puts a fresh spin on the having-it-all conundrum of juggling relationships and caring from children and parents with the demands of a career.
