Petr Horacek's dreamy Blue Penguin [is] a nice enough story, but what really makes this book sing are Horacek's amazing illustrations, all ice and snow with occasional vivid sightings of an orange-coloured sun. * The Independent on Sunday *

Petr Horacek's wonderful, magical story with its insiders/outsider theme is a timely one, coming out as it does in a year when, with the refugees from Syria arriving and one hopes finding a real welcome in the UK, the message is particularly important. My abiding hope is that Blue Penguin's song can reach everyone the world over at this troubled time. I'd like to see a copy in every home and classroom. * Books for Keeps *
This is a poignant story. [...] A wonderful book about the power of song and friendship. * Juno *
