To be a real boy - that is the heart's desire of Pinocchio, a little wooden puppet carved by the old carpenter Geppetto out of a special piece of wood. But the wooden puppet is naughty, mischievous and bold, and has many adventures and faces many challenges before he can become a good little boy at last. This superb new translation by award-winning translator Emma Rose is matched by Sara Fanelli's playful illustrations in this witty version of Carlo Collodi's classic story.

Author Bio
Carlo Collodi (1826-90) is the pen-name of Carlo Lorenzini who was born in Florence. The son of a cook and a servant, he began his writing career as a journalist before turning to children's stories. Pinocchio was a huge success when it was first published and, with its strong sense of morality tempered by exuberant humour and spirit, is still one today. Like Collodi, Sara Fanelli was born in Florence. She came to study in London at the Camberwell School of Art and the Royal College of Art, where she graduated in illustration. Her children's books include Dear Diary which received an Honourable Mention from the 2001 Bologna Ragazzi Award Jury and Pinocchio which won the V&A Illustration Award. In 2006 Sara was made a fellow of the RDI (Royal Designers for Industry), the first woman illustrator to receive the honour.
