Brian Lavery is Curator of Naval History at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. He is the author of many books. As a highly respected maritime historian he was consultant on the film Master and Commmander, and consulted on the replica constructions of Captain Cook's Endeavour and the emigrant ship Susan Constant.
