Synopsis

Advanced Dental Nursing is designed for practising dental nurses who wish to progress their knowledge and expand their professional range. The book acts as a course companion to the post-certification courses in oral health education, special care, sedation and orthodontics. It also provides useful information on career development pathways, as well as aspects of clinical governance and research in primary care. The book anticipates developments within the organisation of dental services and reflects opportunities in the modern workforce. The structure is user-friendly, so that the book can be read from cover to cover, or dipped into when required. An essential read for dental nurses pursuing post-certification courses and those who aspire to develop their knowledge and skills in this way.

Media Reviews
This book has certainly filled a gap in the market for dental nurses undertaking the post-qualification certificates. It provides clear, concise information, enabling the dental nurse to increase their knowledge in these areas, as well as information on different pathways to further their career. President Hazel Carpenter, BADN Council in The British Dental Nurses Journal ...this textbook will form a useful reference source for every nurse to be available in any clinic or practice. The British Dental Nurses Journal This long-awaited textbook has been written by a team of authors with special interests and expert knowledge in their chosen fields. This is reflected in the depth and relevance of information presented. It is divided into six chapters which include subjects allied to the NEBDN post-certification courses...All of these are subjects which have long suffered from a lack of relevant textbooks. This book more than adequately fills the gap. Overall, this is an excellent addition to the dental nurses' library. Michelle Brindley, President-Elect BADN, Vital This book has a very simple layout and because it contains information on more than one post qualification is value for money and would encourage candidates to want to learn more...Excellent for revision purposes. Journal of Disability and Oral Health Textbooks for dental nurses are a rarity, and the publication of this book provides a source for those dental nurses wishing to advance and widen their professional skills.I would encourage all nurses to read Advanced Dental Nursing, not just those looking to further their careers, and would also encourage any dentist who cares about the quality and training of their nurses, to purchase this excellent textbook. British Dental Journal Since the registration of dental nurses will become compulsory from 2005 this book has even greater significance. It also, as Professor Ireland rightly points out in his preface, acts to address the problem of the dearth of supportive literature for dental nurses. There is a lot of information in this comprehensive 350-page paperback, which should prove indispensible to most post-qualification dental nurses seeking to continue their professional development. BDA News The textbook Advanced Dental Nursing is a great guide for nurses interested in particular post qualifications for Dental Nurses...The text is aimed directly at UK Dental Nursing, but has value in other countries as a good reference text.Advanced Dental Nursing has now made it possible for Dental Nurses of all levels of experience to have a good in-depth reference tool available.
