Respiratory Medicine couldn't be made easier for both the 4th and 3rd year medics.... It is a great revision and or study guide. The content is of high quality. The amount of information packed into a relatively small text is enormous. I was surprised by the quality of this book being better than I expected. Respiratory medicine is very dependent on physiology and radiology. I would highlight both of these in the text and diagrams as they are important in understanding the management of respiratory diseases. The book is recommended as a core reference for the Respiratory Pathway of the BSc Nusing/Midwifery Practice Programme. Lecture Notes' advantage over its competitors is that it gives concise details of physiology, investigations, the disease process and treatment within one book. The diagrammatic representation of the disease process is a particular asset of the book and a clear advantage over its competitors. I think when this method of teaching (systems) becomes more firmly established, this type of educational resource will be invaluable. The subject content of the book aligns very well covering all the major topics comprehensively. I like the way that practical procedures are explained in detail. One of the great strengths of this book, the tables, diagrams and text boxes really help to clarify the text. My concern about publishing a new edition does not relate to the content, style, price or any other aspect of the text, more to do with the adequate coverage of this subject in general medical textbooks, which most undergraduates will already own. I have used this text for my general medical attachments and for my revision notes. I have found it very good. Its greatest asset compared to the respiratory chapter in the existing general medical textbooks is that each chapter is devoted to a single topic, say asthma, or pneumonia, and this makes learning much easier.
