ROBERT COCKCROFT was formerly Lecturer in Rhetoric, Department of English Studies, University of Nottingham, UK. His previous publications include Rhetorical Affect in Early Modern Writing (2003), also published by Palgrave Macmillan. SUSAN COCKCROFT is a tutor in English Language at the University of Nottingham, UK, and Principal Examiner in A-level English Language and Literature. She has written several books on language and is currently working on grammar and gender in historical texts.
