Author Bio
Ajaya K. Sahoo is a senior lecturer and Head of the Centre for the Study of Indian Diaspora, University of Hyderabad, India. His teaching and research interests include international migration, South Asian diaspora, transnationalism and religion. He is the editor of the journal South Asian Diaspora, co-editor of the Routledge Handbook of the Indian Diaspora (forthcoming 2017) and Indian Transnationalism Online: New Perspectives on Diaspora (2014), Diaspora and Identity: Perspectives on South Asian Diaspora (2014) and Transnational Migrations: The Indian Diaspora (2009), also published by Routledge. Bandana Purkayastha is Professor of Sociology and Asian & Asian American Studies at the University of Connecticut, USA. Her research focuses on the intersections of gender/racism/class/age, transnationalism, violence and peace, and human rights.
