Book Overview: Strategy and HRM remains the go to book for students, HR practitioners and senior managers seeking to understand the contested nature and role of strategic HRM in various organizational contexts. The updates and revisions of chapters have enhanced the clarity of arguments and debates and are directly relatable to issues facing managers in organizations today. - Elaine Yerby, University of East London, UK This is an extremely well written and focused text. It approaches HRM from an industrial/employment relations perspective, providing a depth of coverage that sets it apart from other HRD oriented texts. It is ideal for postgraduate students of HRM and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. - Beverley McNally, Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University, Saudi Arabia This book provides a sound and highly informative overview of the integrated fields of strategic management and HRM. The new edition goes much further than simply explaining the sub-functions of HR practice, by integrating them and incorporating contextual factors. Explicit and through attention is also given to the foundations of the field. Over the years my students have developed strong reflection skills mainly thanks to this textbook, and I can't recommend it highly enough. - Beatrice van der Heijden, Radboud University, Institute for Management Research, Nijmegen, the Netherlands This book offers an innovative and balanced approach to strategic human resource management. It is an ideal text for students and practitioners who are interested in this significant field. - Greg Bamber, Monash University, Australia.
