Author Bio

Francesco D'Adamo 's novel Iqbal was recently published by Simon & Schuster and attracted widespread press and media attention before being made into a film. It tells the story of a boy who challenges the practice of child labour in poor countries. The author is an Italian teacher, who has written several books for young people and teenagers. He took part in the Ilkley Literature Festival and gave a reading at L'Istituto Italiano di Cultura with writer Mary Hoffman and critic Nicholas Tucker. Translator Sian Williams received her degree in Russian Language and Literature from the University of Birmingham, Edgbaston in 1969. She was a publisher of literature in translation for many years, first with Writers and Readers Publishing Cooperative and subsequently with Camden Press. Writers published included: Alejo Carpentier, Dacia Maraini, Victor Serge and Osip Mandelsh'tam. She now lives and works in London as a translator and as a promoter of literature in translation. She has worked on literature promotions with the Goethe Institute, L'Institut Francais and L'Instituto Italiano di Cultura amongst other cultural institutes.
