Synopsis

This is a new revision of the 2nd edition of Vegetarian Nosh for Students. This edition has a new layout, new photography and includes 30% more recipes than the first edition. Originally a sequel to Nosh for Students, a book inspired by the author's son, Ben, leaving for university, who was clueless in the kitchen. Toasted sandwiches and Mars Bars were his staple diet, but these didn't serve him too well! What was needed to encourage him to cook was an easily attainable taste of home, oh, and pictures with every recipe! Nosh for Students was born. Since then, Joy has helped over 150,000 students get cooking with her straightforward and simple approach. Joy helps to take the chore out of cooking, giving students a taste of success and making the experience so much fun. Voted Best Overall Winner of vegetarian student cookbooks by student-testers at The Vegetarian Society, August 2007. Vegetarian Society Approved.

What Students Say About This Book... I would definitely recommend this book for anyone going to uni. I have just graduated and still turn to it loads both for ideas and directions in the kitchen! The recipes are seriously tasty and I find it so good to have a picture of each one because then I know what it is supposed to turn out like. This book has so many tasty vegetarian dishes to cook! The instructions are simple to follow...the sweet and spicy pilau is great!! Also some great smoothies and soups, very healthy!! This was the first cookbook I ever bought and I have to say I was impressed. The recipes were simple and delicious and there was a great range from 5 minute snacks to more complicated dishes. This was the first solely vegetarian cookbook I purchased and it's constantly in use. I love the way the recipes are laid out - the star rated difficulty levels, the step by step instructions and especially the photographs of the recipes. We need books like this to encourage people to have a go and discover that cooking does not need to be complicated, or use wierd/expensive ingredients. It's just fantastic! The meals are not only quick and easy to cook, but are also tasty, healthy and filling. It sticks to simple ingredients unlike many vegetarian cook books. This book gave me (and still does) 6 months of new and exciting recipes almost every night! I like the fact that you don't need weights or scales, in fact no measurement equipment at all!
Author Bio
I studied Art and Design at Loughborough College of Art and Design. Among other things, I now use my creativity to write cookbooks. I have been married to Ron for over 30 years and we have two sons, Ben and Tim, who have now graduated from Uni. When my sister and I were quite young, probably 5 and 6 years old, we started to cook, mainly cakes, biscuits and simple meals. By the time I was 12, we would cook Sunday lunch. I love this heritage and am passionate about good food. There is nothing I love more than having a house full of people to feed. I started out by writing our first student cookbook back in 2001. Since then we have written new editions including vegetarian versions of the original best seller, Nosh for Graduates and Nosh for Busy Mums and Dads.
