A Year Behind Bars: The Publicans Tale

A Year Behind Bars: The Publicans Tale

by George East (Author), George East (Author), Francesca B. (Editor), Robin Evans (Illustrator)

Synopsis

My wife has bought me a pub for Christmas. Or rather, she has allowed me to buy one for myself. Soon, I will be able to drink at cost price and entertain customers and friends in my front room. What's more, I will actually be paid for enjoying myself instead of shelling out to visit other people's pubs - So begins A Year Behind Bars, the diary of one man's attempt to create the perfect pub. The story of a memorable year of near-disaster, occasional triumph and continual farce is destined to become, like the traditional corner local, a much-cherished classic.

Media Reviews
'A delightfully honest and side ticklingly funny account of a real landlords life behind the bar of his inner city pub...' Food & Drink Magazine George's book has made me look again at the customers in my local, and yes, I recognise quite a few of them from his book, maybe even myself among them. Well done Geo, a rollicking read. P Evening News
Author Bio
After twenty years of writing about British pubs and pub people, George East lives with his long-suffering wife Donella in a ruined water mill in Normandy. Amongst his leisure activities, the former publican, private detective, seamstress, night club bouncer and professional bed tester lists staying one jump ahead of his creditors, going down the pub, and annoying non-smokers.
