Synopsis

This is an inspirational book for gardeners about gardens. Author Bio
Douglas Ellory Pett obtained his first experience of large-scale gardening as Vicar of Gulval, Penzance, from 1961 to 1966. In the 1980s he pursued geological and other field studies in Cornwall, and was invited to organize the first professional and voluntary surveys of historic gardens for the newly formed Cornwall Gardens Trust. He was a member of the Garden History Society; author of the definitive The Parks and Gardens of Cornwall (Alison Hodge, 1998) and The Cornwall Gardens Guide (Alison Hodge, 2003); co-author of The Historic Gardens of Cornwall (1991); editor of From A Cornish Bishop's Garden (Alison Hodge, 2001), and a regular contributor to The Cornish Garden. In 2004, Dr Pett was awarded the Charles Thomas Prize of the Royal Institution of Cornwall for his work on Horticulture on the Isles of Scilly. He completed Creative Gardeners just before his death in February 2005.
