It is written by Barrie Watts and illustrated with his own photography that has been commissioned for the series. The book also looks at how a duck moves around, how it gets food and how it mates. Each spread addresses one stage of the lifecycle. The text works on two different levels. The first simple paragraph reads in conjunction with the picture to giv an overview, while the main text expands these points in greater detail.
