Curriculum Studies in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Achieving QTLS Series)

Curriculum Studies in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Achieving QTLS Series)

by JonathanTummons (Author)

Synopsis

This book provides an accessible overview of the key issues surrounding the curriculum for all those working towards QTLS. Curriculum shapes the programmes that are taught, dictates which students can have access to courses and lies at the heart of what teachers and trainers actually do. Examples and case studies throughout the book demonstrate these issues within working FE colleges, adult education centres and work-based learning contexts. It also offers succinct summaries of key theories and debates relating to the curriculum. This fully revised edition reflects the latest policies and thinking and now includes a glossary of useful terms.

Media Reviews
Having worked as a practitioner in lifelong learning myself for many years, I feel most grateful to the author and the publisher for their painstaking effort in bringing out such a resourceful handbook for the emerging professional community of lifelong learning with a focus on curriculum studies and practice. Reviewing this book, I have personally obtained much useful knowledge and techniques which could well be reintroduced into training programmes for adult education and lifelong learning practitioners, not merely in the context of the UK but also in other parts of the world. -- Tiedao Zhang
