Amy & Roger's Epic Detour

Amy & Roger's Epic Detour

by Morgan Matson (Author)

Synopsis

Amy Curry is having a terrible year. Her mother has decided to move all the way across the country and needs Amy to drive their car from California to the East Coast. There's just one problem: since the death of her father, Amy hasn't been able to get behind the wheel of a car. Enter Roger, the son of an old family friend, who turns out to be unexpectedly cute...and dealing with some baggage of his own. Meeting new people and coming to terms with her father's death were not part of Amy's plans for the road trip. But then neither was driving on the Loneliest Road in America, seeing the Colorado Mountains, visiting diners, dingy motels and Graceland. But as they drive, and she grows closer to Roger, Amy finds that the people you least expected are the ones you need the most - and that sometimes you have to get lost in order to find your way home.

One of the most touching, irresistible, and feel-good road trips I've been on in a long, long while. ROGER AND AMY is a book to love. --Deb Caletti
This entertaining and thoughtful summertime road trip serves up slices of America with a big scoop of romance on the side. -Kirkus
* A near perfect summer read that should leave readers with a thirst for travel and romance. -Publishers Weekly, starred review
This is an incredible book--heartbreakingly funny and utterly un-put-down-able. --Lauren Myracle, New York Times Bestselling author of Thirteen and TTYL
The narrative keeps its momentum even through flashbacks that gradually reveal more about Amy's family tragedy and interspersed pages from Amy's travel scrapbook, which includes jotted state overviews, souvenir menus, and long, keenly apt music playlists that'll send readers off to downloading. If all road trips were like this, nobody'd ever stay home. --Bulletin for the Center of Children's Books
