William Newton illustrates the basic techniques and then provides four stunning step-by-step demonstrations. They are very inspirational and make you want to reach for your paintbrush. From now on every watercolour painting will be an excitement for me as I will be unravelling the painting to see exactly how it was accomplished. I was very eager to attempt a similar painting after reading this book and I found by following the basic techniques Newton outlines I accomplished a wonderful painting.

This book is an excellent introduction to painting watercolour pictures. William Newton keeps his descriptions simple and clear. he uses just a few basic colours and yet manages to achieve fresh engaging paintings. A professional artist for over 20 years, he knows what is needed from a step-by-step book. You can't fail to produce a pleasing result from following the processes in here. The crisp drawing shows how effective simple shapes can be. Well worth the money.
