Ted Smith was born in London. His job in international marketing and advertising caused him to move to Paris, then Brussels. For the better part of 21 years of his time in Belgium, he spent his spare time on the battlefields around Ypres and Northern France, where he met with Tony Spagnoly and their collaboration on these books began.
