Supporting Children with ADHD

Supporting Children with ADHD

by KateE.Spohrer (Author)

Synopsis

This is a collection of practical suggestions and materials to use with pupils who have ADHD or demonstrate ADHD type behaviour. This book provides a variety of materials to help the child get to know their own personality and mind and in doing so, become more able to control their own feelings, thoughts and actions. Where the first edition focuses on work to do with the individual child, this second edition will be enhanced by a brand new chapter on the theory, medication and alternative therapies for ADHD, useful for anyone wanting to know more about the condition; and by another on what the teacher can do, including case studies, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) writing guide and reflective questions for the teacher about the child and teaching strategies. These chapters will complement the existing content perfectly.

Media Reviews
...the best book I have EVER read about ADHD. It explains it clearly and succinctly. The checklist at the beginning is the most accurate one I have ever seen (including the Connors rating!!) I would suspect that you either have ADHD yourself or have someone very close to you to have such knowledge. A lot of the things mentioned on the checklist are not generally highlighted which makes me think you have inside knowledge!... I have read at least twenty different books by different authorities on ADHD. Some are great, some are just boring. I have surfed the net for nine years and gathered bucket loads of info. Again, some good and bad. But I have never seen all the information you need in one book until I read yours. Sue Z, Parent
