Included are famous tournament courses like Augusta National, Pebble Beach, Koolau Golf Club in Hawaii and St. Andrews, Scotland, as well as some less well-known courses that have an extremely difficult hole, like Hallbrook Country Club in Kansas. Millard's text is highly readable and informative. He describes what features make each chosen hole so difficult and relates its history, its design, and anecdotes from tournament play. First-rate photography brings out the beauty to be found in these beasts, supplemented by photos of the players who made history on these holes and the architects who designed them.
