by Chris Millard (Author), Chris Millard (Author)
In golf, each hole presents a unique challenge, but some are more challenging than others. In this book, Chris Millard undertakes the task of selecting his choices of the 100 toughest holes in the world. Millard draws on his experience as an editor at Senior Golfer and Golf World magazines as well as statistical data and consultations with other experts to come up with a necessarily subjective but nonetheless authoritative list. The book takes the reader to the greatest courses in the world. Included are famous tournament courses like Augusta National, Pebble Beach, Koolau Golf Club in Hawaii and St. Andrews, Scotland, as well as some less well-known courses that have an extremely difficult hole, like Hallbrook Country Club in Kansas. Millard's text is highly readable and informative. He describes what features make each chosen hole so difficult and relates its history, its design, and anecdotes from tournament play. First-rate photography brings out the beauty to be found in these beasts, supplemented by photos of the players who made history on these holes and the architects who designed them.
