This text aims to provide the reader with skills to read and interpret scientific journal articles and also to recognize appropriate format for research studies. The knowledge goals include: understanding the principles of science; developing familiarity with research in sports and exercise science; recognizing the basics of experimental design; and awareness of the format of research articles. The skills goals include: organizing and preparing written research assignments in proper format; performing and interpreting statistical calculations; and conducting library research. These two goals are woven through the context of the text.
