Joyce Stableford has been a lecturer since 1975 in Psychology and Sociology. Initially at Salford Technical College (now part of the University). Then in 6th form College at The Manor School in Stockport. After a car accident she trained as a Hypnotherapist / Psychotherapist and started her own business, first in Manchester, then later Essex. She carried on teaching, training Hypnotherapists / Psychotherapists for The National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy in Preston. She also did some teaching for The National School of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy in London. Her first dissertation for BSc Hons from Salford University was: An Historical and Sociological Analysis of The Concept of Self. Her dissertation for MSc Psychology from Manchester University was: How Neuro-Linguistic Programming Constructs the Social Self. She has written modules for the post graduate training of therapists on Research Methods, Human Development and Sexuality, and part of the module on Psycho-pathology with another tutor. She writes short stories and has started her first fiction novel based on her family history research. She is a qualified healer and Astrological Counsellor.
