Having a gardening friend makes life so easy when choosing presents for them. All gardeners appreciate plants, seeds, bulbs or tools for the garden. With this book you will be able to give that bit more - a personalised, handmade present, totally unique and guaranteed to bring pleasure to the recipient. Instead of pre-bought packets of bulbs or seeds, empty them into pretty hessian bags or hand-decorated seed packets. Customise hand tools with butterfly motifs, pots with paint. Make a decoupage seed box which will safely hold all those treasures and promises of new plants in seasons to come. Lavishly illustrated with the photographs of Michelle Garrett, the book is brimming with ideas from the simple - hand-made plant labels, painted trugs and wind chimes to the more challenging home-made candles, soaps and wirework display racks. Clearly explained instructions ensure a high success rate whilst also offering the opportunity to create your own individual piece. Templates are included at the back to remove the worry of copying patterns, rounding the book off nicely. So next time you think of buying a plant for a friend, pot it up in a hand-decorated box, add a hand-painted label and wrap in hessian tied with colourful raffia to make a truly personal, special gift. - Lucy Watson
Author Bio
Stephanie Donaldson is the author of many gardening books. As a child she learnt her love of gardening from her grandfather. Later, as an adult, she returned to gardening, working for a specialist alpine necessary, running the vegetable garden on an organic farm and then managing a large formal garden for eight years. She now lives on the sea on the south coast of England where the mild climate allows her to experiment with growing Mediterranean plants in between writing.
