Synopsis

Volcanoes amaze and fascinate everyone, and this book introduces the young reader to the dangerous and sometimes deadly world that we live in. "My Best Book of Volcanoes" explores how volcanoes are formed - from core to crust - the different types of volcanoes and where they are in the world. Volcanic eruptions are depicted in glorious colour artwork, and the different types of lava and minerals that result described in detail. Volcanoes under the sea, crater lakes, volcanic islands and volcanoes on other planets all combine to give a complete and authoritative picture of these awesome mountains. How volcanoes can affect everyday lives is also explored, with pages about vulcanologists - the scientists who study volcanoes and predict volcanic eruptions -and the ordinary people who live on the slopes beneath these brooding mountains.
