Synopsis

The nuns called her Eve when they found her lying unconscious in a Burgundy field. She had no possessions apart from a Tangier ferry ticket - not even her memory, though her accent suggests she is American. Doctors have been unable to dredge anything from her mind to tell her who she is, and their examinations have only been able to inform her of one thing: that she once had a child. The convent has been her home since then - a simple, tranquil life. Then one night, while she is away, a dozen camouflaged men make their way through the convent, murdering the sisters in cold blood. Only Sister Heloise escapes. And she tells Eve that the men had been focused on looking for one person, 'the American'. With no idea why the men wanted to find her so badly, Eve must flee. Her only clue is the ferry ticket. She heads for Tangier on a desperate journey in search of her identity and her history. But the precious knowledge may be more terrible than she can imagine...

Book Overview: An incredibly fast-paced, gripping novel from the highly acclaimed author of EASY MONEY and SHOT. Jenny Siler's reputation grows with each novel, and FLASHBACK is her best yet. 'Siler's fourth and best-yet novel is a pounding, precisely-plotted thriller ... her sense of place (with musky Marrakech replacing her familiar Montana barrens) is acute and exciting. FLASHBACK is a terrific read. On present form Jenny Siler is showing the competition a clean and perfectly-shaped pair of heels' LITERARY REVIEW 'Intense, inventive and impressive, FLASHBACK sees Jenny Siler go from strength to strength' Val McDermid 'Jenny Siler's excellent new novel is a fast rush of a story and Siler keeps the reader glued to the pages ... A real cracker' INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY. All three of her previous novels also received excellent reviews: 'A major talent is now in place. Welcome to the top table' LITERARY REVIEW 'Haunting and claustrophobic, this is a thriller that chills to the bone' DAILY EXPRESS 'Propels her right into the top echelon of crime writers ... Don't miss this one' INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY.

Author Bio
Jenny Siler grew up in Missoula, Montana. For much of her life, she has travelled and worked her way around the world, starting as a prep-cook in the scullery of a men's soup kitchen, through working in a fish cannery in Alaska pulling salmon roe, to being a nude sketch model at an art museum in Frankfurt. Her work, she says, has defined her and her writing.
