Synopsis

Last Reach Point lighthouse on the beautiful Northlands coast has been home to the Jackson family for years. Now it's nearly toppling into the sea and Beth Jackson must find a new home for her ageing father, Bill, and her teenage son, Danny. A chance meeting with Gareth Dakers, the smooth local politician, leads to an unusual offer. He suggests Beth and her family move to his North London flat. Beth is reluctant to leave the rural idyll of Last Reach, but with little chance of finding either a job or a new home in Northlands, she knows she has no choice. As Beth and her family square up the challenges their new life in the city offers, Beth begins to realise that there's more to Dakers' generous offer than meets the eye...

Book Overview: TRUE COLOURS is PASTURES NOUVEAUX in reverse: a funny, moving story which explores the differences between country and city life. TRUE COLOURS shows Sue Haasler growing up - a move away from light romance to a more thoughtful, well-rounded read that still retains her wry comic touch. Sue Haasler now has an American publishing deal. Her first novel, TWO'S COMPANY, was optioned by Warner Brothers in a hotly contested auction. Sue Haasler has received terrific reviews: 'A delightful debut' Daily Express. 'A funny and touching novel about motherhood, romance and responsibility' Woman's Own. 'Funny, realistic and romantic...I loved it' Katie Fforde. 'I loved it! I laughed, I cried, I fell in love all over again. Sue Haasler is simply the best' Christina Jones. 'Fresh and funny' Hello.
