Cut and Run

by JeffAbbott (Author)

Synopsis

Many years ago, Ellen Mosley became Eve Michaels. She left her husband, her adored children and her safe life for a life on the run, a new lover and $500,000. But then she found that the money was the Mob's and that they weren't too happy about losing it. There was only one choice. She turned her back on the everyday world and returned the cash to its owners. The Mafia, impressed by her balls - and her smarts - offered her a job in the family and she thrived. Now, her grown-up son, Whit, wants to find her. His father is dying and he wants to call Ellen Mosley to her husband's deathbed to pay her dues. But when he finally tracks her down, it couldn't be at a worse time. Eve's position in the organisation is under attack, and soon enough both mother and son are on the run from the Mob again...

Media Reviews
'Abbott has written a frighteningly violent novel. It's as though civilisation has finally broken down and the Goths are ruling downtown Houston, as possibly they do. Cut and Run is first class - a little diamond. If crime novels were music, this would be Jerry Lee Lewis, and there's no higher accolade in my opinion.' -- Mark Timlin INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY 'Abbott's observations about the way people interact and the minutiae that make up everyday hoodlum life ring truest this side of The Godfather, and his deceptively simple style seduces the readers into a world of murder, greed, and sheer human fallibility. There will be many superlatives bandied about in reference to this novel, and for once, the sheer talent of its author makes then all true.' GOOD BOOK GUIDE 'Nail-bitingly suspenseful and a totally original take on betraying the Mob and trying to survive, this is Jeff Abbott's first thriller to be published on this side of the Atlantic. He's had six already published in America, so please can we have some more - soon?' IRISH INDEPENDENT 'The hottest new writer on the American crime writing block, Jeff Abbott, makes his debut with all guns blazing... Abbott slams you back in your chair and hits the throttle from chapter one, leaving you a helpless passenger on a ride that screams round hairpin turns, leaving rubber on the road and bullets ricocheting off the pages. ****' PETERBOROUGH EVENING TELEGRAPH 'Abbott is certainly a name to watch, and deserves his place at the table alongside Coben and Deaver.' INK 'exciting and confidently written' MORNING STAR 'A good read' SHOTS
