Deadlight

Deadlight

by Graham Hurley (Author)

Synopsis

Graham Hurley has recreated Portsmouth as the obvious locale for a series of gritty and impassioned crime novels. His Portsmouth is a city of extremes; the Paulsgrove council estates, the multi-million pound development on Gun-Wharf. Once the Naval Dockyards were the home of Britain's global power, now HMS Victory is a tourist attraction. It's a city riven by poverty and drugs but it is also fiercely spirited. Its police force is fighting a hopeless containment battle against a tide of crime. D/I Faraday maintains a principled stand undermined by his cynicism, his ineptness with women and his difficult relationship with his deaf son. D/S Winter is a scam-artist, a sociopathic loner, a policeman constantly on the verge of corruption. They are bonded by their ability to get results.
