Junk Male

by Brian Gallagher (Author)

Synopsis

Sometimes, no matter how hard a man tries, nothing, but nothing, will go right. When Joel's wife Ellen announces she's pregnant, he gulps but prepares to accept the challenges of fatherhood, even if it means trading in his precious sax and looking for a steady job to provide for his offspring. But it's not that straightforward. Ellen has a little secret regarding the baby and she's got a race against time to make sure Joel doesn't find out. Then there's Joel's friend Monk, the most arrogant womaniser you could hope to meet, who has a warped agenda of his own. And when the three of them start plotting, planning and scheming, there can be only one result: total and utter chaos. Who said all men were useless? It may just be they were right...

Media Reviews
Joel is a saxophone player who makes very little money, though he believes he's the third-best sax player in Ireland. When his wife Ellen confronts him and tells him she is pregnant, he is highly suspicious because he always takes precautions. When the news has sunk in, he decides he must sell his precious saxophone and buy a cheaper one, putting the difference towards the expenses of having a baby. He leaves Dublin on the ferry and flees to England where he gets a lift from a nun who runs off with his cash and his sax. And he has another problem too - Ellen isn't actually pregnant yet. The author of Feng-Shui Junkie has produced an engaging farce of misunderstandings, betrayal and seduction.
