Author Bio
Dr Martin Parsons is Director of the new International Research Centre for Evacuee and War Child Studies at the University of Reading. He has lectured at various Universities throughout the world, and holds several posts, including Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Evacuees Reunion Association and President of the International Federation of Evacuees and War Children. Martin has given guest lectures at the English Speaking Union and the Cabinet War Rooms. He was a consultant on the BAFTA winning 'Britain at War in Colour' documentary for Channel 4 and has contributed to many TV and radio programmes including 'The Evacuees' as part of the Lost Decade series on BBC4. In 2000 he co-researched the Radio 4 series on Evacuation that won the Sony Gold Award for 'Best Documentary'. Considered by many as an expert in his field and the author of more than twenty-five books, in 2000 Martin was elected a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
