Jesse Richard Pitts was a pilot for the B-17 Flying Fortress in World War Two. Author Bio
Jesse Richard Pitts was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the French Croix de Guerre. After the war he returned to Harvard, received his Ph.D in sociology in 1958, and became a university lecturer and author. He died in 2003 and his last years were devoted to writing Return to Base, which he dedicated to the crew of the Penny Ante.
