Glory Days

Glory Days

by JoyceMandeville (Author)

Synopsis

When young Glory, her best friend Pammy Reynolds and kid brother, Beau go out in the woods one day, they little expect to find a bunch of old rags that rises up before them and howls. But Glory is a unique child and is unflustered by the event. She and Pammy are convinced that the Virgin Mary has been to visit and this is confirmed by the miraculous arrival of the particular pair of 'Mary Jane' shoes that Glory has been praying for since time immemorial. Unusual occurences are two a penny for Glory - her mother has extra powers, her big, fat Aunt Flo has babies that never materialise. It's a strange, weird, world out there. But the girls' story gets out, the newspaper hounds arrive, and the once dead town thrives again - though not without difficulties. Curious, quirky and magical, this is a lovely novel of childhood, religion and love set in the heart of middle America
