John Selby was a former soldier who turned to military history. Born in 1905, he was of an age to hear at first hand stories of the American West which instilled in him a fascination with American history. Among his other distinguished books are Stonewall Jackson, The Boer War, The Iron Brigade, The United States Cavalry and The United States Marine Corps.
