Synopsis

This is a collection of Indian traditional stories, retold for children. They combine ghost stories with creation myths and hero stories, traditional tales and tales in a modern setting. From the story of the highwayman who becomes a mouthpiece for the story of the gods to the tale of pichalipari, the reversed-feet demon, these stories reflect the different religions and cultures of the Indian subcontinent. Each story is introduced by a short information section that tells the reader about the place and people the tale comes from.
