by JeffreySiger (Author)

Synopsis

Mykonos has always had a romantic reputation, until the body of a blonde female tourist is discovered on a pile of bones under the floor of a remote mountain church. When the island's new police chief - the young, politically incorrect, former Athens homicide detective Andreas Kaldis - starts finding bodies, bones and suspects almost everywhere he looks, he's forced to admit that the island paradise is harbouring a ritualistic serial killer.

Mykonos's character is at stake, but political niceties no longer matter when another blonde vanishes. Andreas must delve into ancient myths and forgotten island hideaways as he races against a killer intent on claiming a new blonde victim - who is herself determined to out step him . . .

Media Reviews
A very enjoyable and atmospheric book, which captures very vividly the Greek way of life * Eurocrime *
Impressive debut . . . Siger's view of Mykonos (where he lives part-time) is nicely nuanced, as is the mystery's ambiguous resolution. Kaldis' feisty personality and complex backstory are appealing as well, solid foundations for a projected series * Publishers Weekly *
Siger . . . captures the rare beauty of the Greek islands in this series debut . . . His sense of place recalls Donna Leon's Venetian series, but his portrayal of rape and murder is all his own * Library Journal review *
Siger's intimate knowledge of Mykonos adds color and interest to his serviceable prose and his simple premise. The result is a surprisingly effective debut novel * Kirkus *
Readers will be well pleased . . . * Stephanie Zvirin, Booklist online *
Thoughtful police procedurals set in picturesque but not untroubled Greek locales * The New York Times *
Mr. Siger is one of those rare writers whose finger is always on the pulse of modern day upheavals. He is never afraid to tackle and expose uncomfortable subjects - subjects most writers avoid...An authoritative and compelling voice, Mr. Siger is a master storyteller * New York Journal of Books *
