The Transport Manager's and Operator's Handbook 2004

The Transport Manager's and Operator's Handbook 2004

by David Lowe (Editor)

Synopsis

The 34th edition of this text should prove a useful guide for anyone in the road transport industry. It presents all the legal requirements in a coherent format and offers operational advice and solutions to some of the problems facing the industry. The transport industry is facing a difficult future with a number of long-debated complex issues coming to fruition within the lifetime of this 34th edition. Not least is the prospect of massive driver shortages resulting from the new legislation combined with the need for a significant step-up in driver training requirements to ensure understanding of, and compliance with, the new rules. The new edition of this text fully explains all the new provisions, including: the introduction of digital tachographs; driver smart cards; extensive new driver training requirements and standards; drugs testing; tougher speeding penalties; changes to the carriage of dangerous goods regulations; tougher legal action for lack of adequate risk assessments; and increased haulage competition from EU enlargement.
