  This biography of Sir Matt Busby is, in many ways, also the story of Manchester United and the parallel rise and fall of English football over the last 50 years. The book contains revelations about the Munich Air Crash and the strained relationship between Bobby Charlton and George Best. The more recent machinations of the chairman of the club, Martin Edwards, are also discussed. The author, who was himself a professional footballer with Millwall and Manchester United, has written a book, Only a Game , about his own experiences as a footballer. He has also written a book about the Irish rock band U2, entitled U2: The Unforgettable Fire .
