Synopsis

Mike Brodie leads an erratic life. A professional saxophonist/voice-over specialist, Mike often has to explain away the fact that she isn t actually a man, as so many tend to assume given her name and business. Paul, Mike s irritatingly pushy manager, ensures that her diary is always full to the seams with bookings, so she spends her time rushing between various gigs and voice-over jobs, while simultaneously looking out for her now grown-up goddaughter, Raffi. When Mike at last decides it s time for a well-earned break, she heads for Bewick Grange in Ruttersford, a stately home maintained by her friend, Maggie. As she approaches the house down a heavily wooded road, her car is attacked by a group of men, causing her to swerve and crash. Despite appearances, however, this turns out to be a mere case of mistaken identity, but it is not the last of the strange happenings that begin to plague the small village of Ruttersford. When Mike discovers a body floating in an ornamental pool, she quickly finds herself swept up in a tale of murder, mystery and intrigue . ."
