Tears of the Dragon

Synopsis

Chicago, 1931. Elodie Brown, a junior copywriter working late in the Gower Building, the latest prestigious addition to Chicago's lakeshore skyline, accidentally overhears something she wasn't supposed to--crash, cry, silence, slithering footsteps, dragging sound--when the elevator takes her to the wrong floor. Alarmed, and aware she's in the wrong place at the wrong time, Elodie flees without waiting to find out what's going on. This is Prohibition-era Chicago, after all. The next day the building is awash with gossip that a small-time importer with offices on the tenth floor has disappeared, leaving blood all over the floor. Elodie is worried. She'd been visible in the elevator shaft before the doors closed. What if someone had seen her?
