Child Development: Course Work Explained

Child Development: Course Work Explained

by ValdaReynolds (Author), ValdaReynolds (Author)

Synopsis

This new book simplifies and explains the course-work requirements for child development for the main examining groups. It is intended both as a support book for teachers and as a comprehensive guide for students. Both general and specific guidance is given on the three major aspects of coursework - observational study of a child or children, a practical item and an investigative study. Examples are included for each which pupils can work through to gain practice and confidence before beginning their own coursework. Pupils are encouraged to adopt a design and technology approach for the practical item and throughout they are clearly guided towards seeking information, solving problems and assessing their results. The language is accessible to a wide ability range. Observation sheets, comparison charts, evaluation and self-assessment charts are included and may be photocopied. The book aims to be relevant to courses organized in a modular fashion and other related courses such as community studies. Valda Reynolds is Joint Chief Examiner, Midland Examining Group, for GCSE Home Economics (child development) and has a wealth of experience in moderating coursework and training teachers in coursework procedures.
