Stevenson's English and South Pacific stories are well known and easily available, but his Scottish stories have often been overlooked in anthologies. This is a collection of all the Scottish stories and includes ten essays dealing with specifically Scottish subjects. It brings to light previously uncollected stories such as The Plague-Cellar , and all the stories and essays are accompanied by comprehensive explanatory notes. Kenneth Gelder's introduction gives a detailed background to Stevenson and the Scottish influences in his writing. Previously published in 1989, this book has been republished in a new format as part of the 1994 Stevenson Centenary celebrations.
